I love Frank Frazetta's artwork, not much more to say here - I could, for my first post on his works, use the typical swords, sorcery and women - but I won't (for now!). I thought I'd take a look at his film poster works. I'm sure there are more, if I find them, I'll add them - but enjoy! The last one's a real treat, I mean - come on, Frazetta does Clint Eastwood??!

Richard Powers - The Master of Sci-Fi Surrealism

Richard Powers - The Master of Sci-fi Surrealism

To me, no one quite captures the 'alien-ness' of other worlds than Richard Powers. The true pioneering 'sci-fi surrealist', his surreal and visionary images captured the imagination of many and made sci-fi 'cool'. I highly recommend the book 'The Art of Richard Powers' by Jane Frank - the only problem I have with it, is that many of the images are reproduced too small to see a lot of detail, but it covers a wide range of his works. The following images will demonstrate how beautifully his vibrant, stirring imagery transferred to cover art of various science fiction novels.

There's just something very evocative about these illustrations by John Hameberger that really seem to bring to life the world of millions of years ago. These are a few of my favourites from this book published in 1977 by Scholastic.
